Mother Tongue programme

To help students retain a connection with their home language and culture, the school offers three hours of language instruction a week for children with Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hindi, Swedish or Chinese as their mother tongue. Mother tongue classes are scheduled against Islamic Education and are taught in year groups, allowing children of the same age from different classes to develop their home language together. Native speakers recreate the feeling of learning language as if the children were in their ‘home’ country and include elements of geography, history and traditions as well as language. New mother tongue groups continue to join the programme.
