Academic subjects of the IB Diploma are split into six subject groups, with most offered at Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL) depending on a student's interests. Alternatively, the Career-Related Programme (CP) allows students to specialise in one area, developing vocational skills alongside academic Diploma subjects. Students learn to apply their knowledge to real-life situations, developing effective personal skills that are beneficial in later life. Students will gain internationally-recognised qualifications that can take them anywhere in the world as confident young men and women.

The DIAB Approach
We believe in finding the right pathway for each individual to maximise their opportunity for progression beyond our school. Our range of internationally-recognised qualifications, support students’ university and career aspirations, providing a rigorous pre-university academic programme whilst developing the personal skills and characteristics required for independence and the work force. Our academic team will guide students and families in their choices based on the extensive knowledge of the programmes and University requirements.
We are proud to offer the following pathways to students in Grade 11 and 12:
- IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) - full academic pathway
- IB Diploma Courses (Courses) - tailored academic pathway
- IB Career-Related Programme (IBCP) - hybrid academic-vocational pathway
The IB Diploma Courses |
---|
The IB Diploma Courses is a flexible version of the Diploma Programme where students can tailor their subject choices to suit their needs, interests and abilities. Students may choose not to study subjects at Higher Level, may choose not to complete the Core elements of EE, TOK and CAS, or may opt not to study a subject group at all. Each student's programme will be individual and will be agreed with our academic team. For the subjects chosen by Courses students, they will be in the same lessons and will complete the same assessments as DP students. All our DP Courses students have continued onto University courses in a variety of different countries around the world. |
The IB Careers-Related Programme (CP) |
---|
The IB Careers-Related Programme (IBCP) is a blended academic and vocational programme that can lead to University or straight into the workplace. At its core is the BTEC Extended Level 3 Diploma offered in Business or Sport; these courses are equivalent to 3 A-levels in size and will make up the majority of a CP students’ week. Assessment is entirely coursework based on assignment briefs that reflect the world of work. In addition, students opt for two IB Diploma subjects from those listed, as well as a Reflective Project and courses in Language Development and Personal & Professional Skills. What is the CP? |
