technology in learning AT DIA AL BARSHA
We believe in using modern technologies to transform learning and teaching, delivering innovative and personalised experiences for all students. We strive to build learning environments that use technology to enable our students to explore their own ideas and develop themselves as holistic learners.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
Our BYOD programme starts from Grade 3 with the use of iPads, moving onto the use of laptops in secondary. By using their own device, students are able to work in a way that suits them and can continue to study effectively outside of formal lessons, be it during Study Hall or recreation time in school, or in the evenings and weekends at home.
IT Facilities
We have two fully equipped Digital Design labs in the secondary school, along with two ICT suites in the primary. In order to develop state of the art video editing skills in our students, we have green-screen studios in both primary and secondary sections of the school. These are used for accessing specialised programmes such as CAD, Graphing, Robotics and Movie Making.
Software
Our students get access to a variety of software and apps which strengthen the curriculum concepts, showcase their achievements and help them organise themselves (e.g. Century Tech, Education Perfect and Accelerated Reader). These tools are not only reinforcing their knowledge of the curriculum, but also proving to be a great way to build a strong home and school partnership, which is necessary for holistic learning.
Learning Platforms
Toddle and Managebac are used as our learning platforms as a way of communicating and sharing learning with students and parents.
E-Safety
We take the safety of our students seriously and employ strong firewalls on our network. We educate students and parents on using technology safely and the potential consequences of misuse as well as enforcing our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).
Aims of our technology use:
- To develop modern learning environments which cater to the individual learning needs of our students
- To raise student attainment and accelerate levels of progress through the effective use of technology into the curriculum
- To triangulate communication between students, parents and teachers through the effective use of technology
- To ensure that all educators effectively integrate technology into learning and teaching
- To ensure all students are responsible digital citizens
